Who we are

The initiative for coffee&climate (c&c) is a pre-competitive and open initiative of leading coffee companies and development organizations. We support smallholder coffee farming families and their communities to effectively respond to climate change and increase their resilience.

c&c was founded in 2010 by International Coffee Partners (ICP), a pre-competitive partnership of seven leading family-owned coffee companies. c&c projects have been coordinated and implemented by Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung (HRNS) ever since.
Since its founding in 2010, c&c has been working in seven regions worldwide and through the commitment of c&c members has supported more than 142,000 smallholder coffee farming households.

Note from the Chair

Climate change has been affecting coffee production across the globe for a long time, and smallholder farmers are among the most vulnerable. The initiative for coffee&climate brings together companies, development organisations, researchers and agronomic experts in a unique and practical collaboration – because no one can tackle this challenge alone.

By sharing knowledge, co-creating solutions and making them accessible through the c&c toolbox, we support farmers to thrive in a changing climate. We are already seeing tangible results in the field – progress that brings hope, not only to the farmers but also to everyone who cares about the future of coffee. Working together is not just valuable – it’s essential.
